The Government of Bangladesh organized an Innovation Fair to bring innovators, industry and stakeholders of 14 sectors under one roof to create an integrated innovation and market evolution ecosystem for transforming the innovation economy of Bangladesh. This was organized by the Ministry of Science & Technology, in collaboration with the Bangladesh Bank, the National Board of Revenue and UNDP.
On the sidelines of the event, there was a roundtable titled Enabling R&D in Bangladesh: Policy, Regulation and Market Conditions for Innovation – pi STRATEGY Managing Partner was invited to deliver a keynote at this roundtable. Other panelists at this roundtable were the Finance Advisor to the Prime Minister, NBR Chairperson, and former President of DCCI. The keynote addressed why the most valuable innovation available to Bangladesh’s revenue system isn’t a subsidy or a new technology, but a change in how the rules are designed — one that widens the tax base at no cost to the exchequer today.
