The Digital Bangladesh vision of the Government of Bangladesh is a multi-faceted undertaking. On one hand, there are access to information issues being addressed. On the other hand, payments digitization across several dimensions is viewed as a ‘tool’ that could catalyze a multiplier effect toward the Digital Bangladesh vision.
pi STRATEGY, in partnership with a number of other stakeholders, was invited to articulate a value proposition for a Government Architecture for Digitizing government-to-people payments. The new architecture facilitates Direct-to-Citizen (C2C) payments digitally from the government. The Firm helped craft the operational strategy to materialise this initiative.
Once implemented, through this initiative citizens can receive immediate funds into account of their own choosing, cash-out when they want and from a range of possible service points. At the same time, government programs can have participants open accounts at any participating providers.
