This organization is the most prominent development bank in the world. Within a special program to promote financial inclusion among BOP populations in South Asia, pi STRATEGY has helped this client architect and design a targeted intervention in Bangladesh on technology-based financial services adoption.
This engagement involved assessing the current state of affairs in a government run program, especially with regards to governance. Specific strategies were crafted to reduce the occurrence of mal-governance at various leakage points. Simultaneously, an assessment of capabilities among the target population led to a series of strategies, especially in relation to capacity development, that could be instituted to encourage a more participative approach between the beneficiaries and those that operate and monitor the program. The Firm was also involved in designing and running a pilot, as well as extracting lessons from the pilot for further re-calibration of the proposed solution.
An interesting finding from this study was that a bit of early stage capacity development efforts could help reduce the need for sophisticated technology investments down the road.
