This organization has the largest number of retail banking customers in Bangladesh. For this client, pi STRATEGY helped unravel a significant challenge relating to its distribution network and craft actionable strategies to fine-tune and leverage the network.

This engagement involved in-depth analysis of what may be considered ‘big data’. The transaction details over a period of several months were analyzed to extract patterns and insights. This was further supplemented by targeted interviews and ethnographic research with a cross-section of the distribution network entities. The recommendations that emerged from this engagement provided broader mechanisms and specific interventions that the client could adopt to improve its business performance.

A key learning from this engagement was that, despite the fact many of the agents are not particularly well-educated, they have an astute sense of business acumen and they quickly adjust their behavior to take full advantage of any situation. Introducing and encouraging a co-opetition strategy is often the best way forward rather than creating an environment for cut-throat competition.
