A LARGE GLOBAL NON-GOVERNMENT ORGANIZATION

This organization is one of the largest non-government organizations in the world, with operations across a wide variety of disciplines from micro-credit and education to health and women empowerment. For this client, pi STRATEGY helped develop the initial strategy as well as the operational strategy for what is expected to be the largest health insurance program in the country, targeting one million users in the pilot phase and 30 million users in the full scale-up phase.

This engagement involved identifying innovative approaches across three ‘pillars’ of the program: service provisioning, financing and information technology. For each of these pillars, detailed analysis was conducted to assess leading practices around the world that led to devising contextually sensitive strategies, which could be implemented in the local context. Furthermore, an extensive competitive market scan was carried out along with in-depth due diligence activities to identify the best possible insurance partner for this new venture.

A key insight that surfaced from this engagement is that the rich and the poor may be offered the same level of high quality health services if innovative service delivery and financing mechanisms are adopted for a large enough pool of users.
