This organization is a recognized center of excellence focusing on various aspects within the health sector. For this client, pi STRATEGY helped develop a number of scenarios pertaining to capacity development and training activities for the national nursing program in Bangladesh.
This engagement resulted from a commitment made by the Honorable Prime Minister at the United Nations General Assembly to train a certain number of nurses, especially midwives, within a certain period of time. pi STRATEGY was involved with developing multiple scenarios as well as associated financial models and strategies on how best to achieve that target within the specified time. The Firm was also involved in soliciting input from a wide range of institutional actors and synthesizing the deliberations into the final set of recommendations.
An interesting learning from this engagement was that public commitments do sometimes serve as a much-required catalyst to galvanize action. Although there have been a number prior efforts by the various parties to address the shortfall of nursing professionals in the country, not much had been achieved in the past. The PM’s public commitment at the global level not only stimulated the local actors to act urgently, it also brought a number of international actors to the table.
